Frog Scrubby Crochet Pattern

Updated: Oct 5

I am completely obsessed with frogs and have been collecting frog related items since I was about 16 (Which was 30 years ago!). I have written crochet patterns for a frog Granny Square, frog beanie, frog stuffed animal and now a frog scrubby!

You can use this for dishes or for the bath. I tried this pattern out in Lily Sugar 'n Cream and also in Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton in worsted weight. I definitely recommend the Lily type yarn instead for this project. Peaches & Creme would be a similar texture. I experimented with the Lily Scrub Off yarn and I did NOT like that. However, using a yarn that is a scrub texture for the belly portion of the frog would give the scrub factor a kick so don't be afraid to try it out.

I used a 4.5mm hook for this project, but depending on your yarn and tension you could go down even to a 4mm instead. You want your stitches to be fairly tight to hide the little embroidery details and the chain loop on the inside.

This is the first pattern available on the blog and I'm super excited to share it with you.

You can purchase the printable written pattern on Ravelry, which includes many more photos. Find the link below...

SC next 2 Sts, HDC next 2 Sts, 2 HDC into next 3 Sts,

Note: You may want to make your loop now that the top of the head is closed, but the body is still open so you can easily secure the knot and tails inside. See Chain Loop direction next section down.

Working around the body;

SC next 9 Sts,

5 DC into next St, SC next 15 Sts,

5 DC into next St, SC next 8 Sts,

Join to 1st St & FO (66 Sts)

With Color for Chain Loop

Inserting the loop is easiest when done in the middle of joining the front & back panels

together.

Ch 22 & FO,

Insert one end of the Ch tail on one side of the middle St between the eyes on the back panel, insert the other end of the Ch tail on other side of this St. Knot the 2 ends together & trim tails.

ink the pattern.
